The Spring Style Guide

Posted by Marielle T on

This year has brought a handful of new businesses to our little corner of High Street and we're so inspired by and thrilled to collaborate with them (remember when we got to tour Uppercase Press?!). We are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by so many talented and wonderful neighbours.

As an added bonus we get to keep revising our ever-growing list of favourite places to shop in YEG...

It's in that spirit of community that we prepare for spring fashion. The perfect person to show off the best looks of 124 Street is personal stylist Lazina, owner and founder of L-Squared. As a stylist she understands the importance of shopping for pieces that transition from season to season yet still reflect your own personal style. Lazina was a delight to work with (and for the record rocking that airy maxi in +3 weather like a boss!)

Together we pulled looks from Floc Boutique and So Pretty jewelry (whose space is so beautiful we couldn't resist shooting in it!) that have us eagerly swapping out neutrals for bold patterns, bright pops of color and sparkling accessories.

Choose pieces that can do double-duty: This is modern yet casual suiting - perfect for summer.  I like that it’s two pieces so it can be broken up and worn with other items. This will be on rotation for a lot longer in my wardrobe!

Mix and Match Styles: I love the femininity of the yellow lace blouse. I don’t usually opt for such pretty pieces. My style is very much menswear inspired.  But pair this blouse with a casual kick and distressed denim and, for me, it strikes the right balance.

Pay attention to cut: I’ve never been one to wear anything close to a maxi dress. This one though works for me.The lean cut through the body gives it some shape. Yes, I’m a style consultant. I look at cuts of garments and how they wear on the body… even mine.

GET THE LOOK...

To get Lazina's look makeup artist Natasha used Kevyn Aucoin 'Tropical Nights' bronzer, vibrant blush in 'Fira' and matte lipstick in 'Endless' to create a warm bright look perfect for Spring. Natasha also suggests applying lip liner after lipstick to soften the lines while still creating a lasting lip.

All clothing provided by Floc Boutiqe and jewelry provided by So Pretty. Makeup done by Natasha.
