Beaming with life and vibrant green hues, spring has officially sprung in the river valley and is seamlessly washing over the entire city. It seems like Edmonton itself is bursting with things to do and we couldn't be happier to greet the season! 

So swap out your boots for strappy sandals, put on a bright lipstick and get in on the action here in YEG. 


Queen Bee: Master the art of urban beekeeping this year by taking the City of Edmonton’s Urban Beekeeping Course. You’ll get hands on experience and learn the skills to creating a successful hive. Find out more here.

Take It Off: This month Edmonton is home to not one but two fantastic burlesque shows. The Violette Underground is throwing their third affair ‘1940’s with a twist’ at the this month and Send In The Girls is hosting a tribute show to past performances entitled ‘Burlesque of the Ages’. The Brunch Club: Make brunching an event this month (or as the perfect way to spend Mother's Day) by taking a mini-road trip and visiting the newly open Chartier in Beaumont. With rave reviews and a menu that will get you salivating, it's worth the trip. Find out more here

Walk on the 'West Side’: In the final show of the Citadel’s season (and the last play produced under Artistic Director Bob Baker) ‘West Side Story’ promises to be a smash. Get swept off your feet by the power of young love with Tony and Maria, and be prepared to be humming ‘I feel pretty..’ for the rest of the day. Find out more here

Spring Blooms: After no snow for nearly a month (knock on wood) it’s time to start tending to that garden. Pick up your plants from one of annual plant sales going on this month at local greenhouses like the Muttart. Find out more here. 

Channel Your Inner Book Worm: Stock up on your summer reading material by visiting the Library ‘Books 2 Buy’ sale. As a bonus you’ll be able to refresh more than just your book collection, EPL will also be selling DVD’s and cd’s. Find out more here.

Tiny Dancer: Described as a show filled with “excess, drama and a profusion of extravagant costumes” you won’t want to miss ‘Love Lies Bleeding’ the Elton John Ballet. This show is only performing in Edmonton for two nights so be sure to get your tickets early. Find out more here

Meet The Makers: The bi-annual Royal Bison is taking place this month just in time for Mother’s Day. Pick up a beautiful card and maybe one or five things for yourself from some incredibly talented local artisans. Find out more here
