I'm already at the half way point of my 4 Seasons of LUX subscription. And, I can honestly say that this fun project has (in the words of decluttering expert Marie Kondo) sparked serious joy in my life.

As I open my latest box, I see three full-size products and a handful of lovely samples waiting for me to try. Here is a rundown of what products I received, and why they sparked joy!
Product One: INDIE LEE Calendula Eye Balm
Why it brought me joy…
Reason #1: I was so curious to try this product when I opened it. My backyard is full of calendula flowers, and I’ve read this plant can be used to make medicine. I mentioned in my first post that I’ve been trying to move towards natural skin and beauty products. And the INDIE LEE balm is a 100% all-natural product. Edible plants + beauty products = natural joy.
Reason #2: An amazing feature of the INDIE LEE balm is that it leaves a slight shine under the eyes, which reflects light. It also adds dimension to otherwise tired-looking eyes. Good-bye, puffiness = hello, joy.
Reason #3: As I was reading the fine print on the packaging, I learned that the eye balm can also be used as a lip balm. Multi-use product = multi-joyful client.
Product Two: 100% Pure Vanilla Bean Nourishing Body Cream
Why it brought me joy…
Reason #1: This product is also 100% natural. No artificial fragrances, synthetic chemicals, toxic preservatives, or unsafe ingredients. In fact, reading the label sounds just like a Whole Foods shopping list. Wild cherry, blackberry, oregano, thyme, white tea, hazelnut, mangosteen + elderberry = healthy joy.
Reason #2: The body cream smells like freshly baked donuts. True story: My family and I were on a road trip last month on Vancouver Island and stopped at a café famous for its donuts. We bought a box, and put them in the car to save for later. After a few minutes, my husband said, “Mmmm, those donuts smell SO good….” And I realized he was talking about the vanilla body cream I was wearing, not the donuts. Body cream that smells like homemade baking?! Delicious joy all day long.
Product Three: Bumble and Bumble (B&B) Thickening Full Form Mousse
Why it brought me joy…
Reason #1: I’ve enjoyed using B&B products for several years but had never used the mousse. I was thrilled to see it in my 4 Seasons of LUX box. I have fine hair, and I find that B&B gives my hair an extra boost of volume that is otherwise not there. Thicker hair = joy.
Reason #2: A few days before I received the mousse in the mail, I had been using the B&B Thickening Spray. However, during a recent work trip I had packed the bottle (which was more than 100 mL) in my carry-on suitcase. Yep. Bye bye, spray. But when I received my 4 Seasons box a few days later, I saw the new mousse sitting and waiting for me. As I’ve said before, LUX has an uncanny way of reading my mind and knowing exactly what I need and when. Customs officer confiscating my beauty product = zero joy. LUX reading my mind = mega joy.
Reflecting on Joy
