The LUX To Do List: June

Posted by Marielle T on

The school year is wrapping up and those of us long past the days of final exams and papers you never outgrow the anticipation for summer vacations. It's a timeout, a chance to recharge and explore the wondrous world around us. Fortunately this month whether you have the time off or are spending the month here, there's plenty of summer to embrace and revel in.

2 For 1: The Canadian National Parks system will be turning 150 yrs old so to celebrate park passes will be free in 2017. That means that if you buy a park pass this year it's good for two years! As if you needed another excuse to head to Banff for the weekend... Find out more here

All The World's A Stage: Take in a play without the stage at this years FoundFest, made up of a collection of theatrical performances in found spaces throughout Old Strathcona. Find out more here

Light The Lights: The Edmonton Neon Light Museum has recently added a few new signs to it's collection and makes for a lovely late night stroll. Find out more here

Return Of Summer: There are a handful of sure-fire ways to know that summer is back in YEG. For us it's taking a ride on the streetcar and eating a soft serve ice cream cone. Take some time this month and indulge in the smallest summer traditions.

Show A Little Pride: Whyte Ave will be holding the Pride Parade again this year, dressed to the nines in rainbow. Find out the full week-long festivities here

Peanuts & Crackerjacks: The Edmonton Prospects baseball season is in full swing so be sure to catch a game and support the home team. Find the game calendar here

Three's Company: Check out three of our favourite indie theatre festivals this summer with Rapid Fire Theatre's Improvaganza (featuring international improv comedy), Freewill Shakespeare Festival (featuring Shakespeare in the Park) and Nextfest (a two week festival featuring the youngest up and coming artists in Edmonton).

Worth The Drive: Simply can't wait for FolkFest to take in some amazing music? Head to Jasper to catch Stars, Bahamas, Jenn Grant and more at the Performance in the Park. Find out more here
