LUX To-Do List: May

Posted by Marielle T on

It's certainly not feeling like spring in the YEG right now, but we can only hope that this snow will have a very short life and will bring green grass, budding trees and sunny skies soon after. So in May with graduations, weddings and summer vacations around the corner, let's take the time to enjoy watching our winter city blossom into it's sweet summer self.

All The World's A Stage

Leave Your Kids At Home: Closing out the Citadel's season is Avenue Q, an adult puppet show that's inappropriately fun! Find out all the dirty details here

Shakespeare for the Spring: Thou Art Here will be remounting 'Much Ado About Nothing' in late May after the sold out show was so well received last Spring. The show takes place at the Rutherford house as you wander through to watch a true Shakespearean RomCom. Find out more here

On The Catwalk: Take in the spectacle of homegrown fashion and design talent. The Park Fashion Show, is one of the provinces best showcases of emerging talent, boasting the likes of Eliza Faulkner, Suka Clothing, and Bano eeMee. Although in Calgary, it might just be worth the day trip. Find out more here

Look Up: Make sure you take a walk through Churchill Square sometime this month to take in the adorable Tree Houses hidden throughout the trees in the centre of town. These tiny houses will delight anyones inner child, and we have a sneaking suspicion they look even cuter, when you're holding an ice-cream cone.

Mother May I...

Shop Local:
Royal Bison, a self proclaimed indie craft fair, brings the best makers in Alberta under one roof for a whole weekend. It's a perfect place to add a little something extra to your Mother's Day gift this year, and if Mayor Iveson thinks it's great...you'll find out more here

Shop Thrifty: Hoping to revamp your wardrobe for Spring without breaking the bank? The 'Retail Queen Closet Sale' clothing sale promises to save you a few dollars without sacrificing style. Find out all the details here.

Fuel Up:
An all-day breakfast staple, the Glenora Bistro will be closing it's door on May 17 to be torn down. Take advantage of this beautiful building while it's still around and their delicious waffles and fresh squeezed juice. Details here.
