Best Bets for Backpacking

Diane’s Backpacking Essentials

Problem: your budget doesn’t quite match your 5 start travel plans.  Backpacking is my solution to this financial issue.  However, it can really take a toll on your body.  From your back to your feet to your face, everything suffers when you go the hostelling route.

Not to worry! Having just returned from South East Asia (carrying my overstuffed backpack in 35 degrees), I’ve got some tried and true travel essentials that will keep you feeling fantastic!

SKYN ICELAND GLACIAL CLEANSING CLOTHS

These little wonders instantly cleanse and refresh your skin when travel has you feeling grimy.  IN their resealable package, hey’re simple to tote with you.  They can also be carried on any flight.  Bonus: these wipes leave absolutely no residue behind so they don’t require any water for rinsing – just cleanse and instantly feel refreshed!

COOLA SPORT SUNSCREEN SPF 45

Backpackers spend way WAY too much time in the sun.  Coola’s organic mineral sunscreen was perfect for longlasting sun protection and don’t leave me feeling greasy . With their mineral formula, Coola’s sunscreens provide instant protection, so no need to wait 30 minutes before venturing out into the sun (because none of us really wait anyway).

BUMBLE & BUMBLE TRAVEL-SIZED EVERYTHING

While backpacking through a humid climate (something we are definitely not used to in YEG), hair can take a turn for the crazy.  I kept my favourite Bb products-Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner, Prep, and Grooming Creme – with me at all times to combat terrifying frizz.

PRINCIPESSA HAIR AND BODY POWDER

When showering was not an option (or I just had better things to do) I’d just sprinkle a dash of this dry shampoo on my roots to absorb that excess grease.  My hair looked refreshed and cleansed without any effort at all!

There you go: everything I needed to keep myself feeling good and Facebook ready, and all compact enough to be packed around for two weeks. XO Diane
