What I Brought to NYC

Posted by LUX Staff on

In order to get the insider info and bring in the hottest new brands to LUX for the holidays, Jenn and her husband Mike jet set off to New York City for the trade shows.

Deciding to go last minute and travelling on a self-imposed ‘Carry-On Only’ policy, only the best of the best products could come with. Narrowing down this selection may have been a challenge for some, but as a seasoned traveler, Jenn has it down to an art form.

Hair Care

For such a whirlwind trip, hair care needed to be quick, easy and have style longevity.

“Bumble’s surf shampoo and conditioner duo are an easy pair for both Mike and I to use. Water in NYC has a magical property that makes your hair swishy and bouncy- Surf capitalizes on this and gets the best movement.”

This is followed by a good dose of Tonic for a styling preparation, and Straight Blow Dry.

“This was my first time using Straight Blow Dry, what many don’t realize, is that it doesn’t make your hair ‘straight’, but it holds in your heat style. My round-brush curls were extra loopy and sealed right in. Follow that with Brillantine for shine and smoothing that blow-dry fluff. It’s everyday cool”.

Tools are just as important as the products, and a great brush changes everything. These snag-free combs are brilliant and made an appearance at Be The Buyer.

For second day hair, a good dry shampoo and a teasing brush are the key to life. Just a dusting and a quick tease and you’re out the door.

Skin Care

Travel can do horrors to our skin, especially late night flights, busy days and hot, summer weather in a crowded city.

“The items that never leave my travel bag are mostly skincare. Indie Lee Blemish Stick helps demolish those inevitable breakouts that emerge after a long flight. Skyn Iceland Eye Gels are also a no-brainer for the extra long days in New York, I love those.

To me, travel is all about the whole experience, so I save my Maskeraide masks specifically for when I’m away. Always with me is my Eve Lom Cleanser,  I fill my travel container from my full size at home and pair it with my Clarisonic to melt away the day.”

Make-up

Simple, easy, long lasting and timeless is the formula for a perfect NYC look.

“A good base is essential if you are leaving the hotel for the entire day. I stumbled upon Suntegrity matte primer and sunscreen and LOVED it. It’s featured in this year’s Be The Buyer. Rouge Bunny Rouge Powder finish gives a light, non-powdery look for my skin which lasts all day. Then I use my Ilia Multi-Stick for lips and cheeks. Compact and multi-use, it can come along in my bag all day”.
