If you said Edmonton is most beautiful during the fall, you’d be a hard pressed to find someone who disagrees. The vibrant colours of the River Valley, the crisp cool air and of course the cornucopia of fresh cut flowers and produce overflowing at local markets. Sadly though, before we know it the leaves will be gone, Thanksgiving will turn into Halloween and well … you know what happens next.
When it comes to embracing the season it’s best to make the most of it while it’s here, so take a sip or bite of something pumpkin-spiced and enjoy our October LUX Must-Do List:
Learn Local: Our very own Jennifer Grimm is speaking at the My Store My Story event series put on by the Retail Council of Canada. She’ll be talking all about what it’s like to run an independent and local business or to quote her “Come out and learn all my business secrets, because lord knows I am prone to TMI.” Register here for this free networking event.
Catch a Classic “Horror” Film: What would October be without trying to weather proof a corset and fishnets (regardless of gender) so you can catch the midnight screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Garneau theatre? This cult film turns 40 this year so get swept in the tradition and make sure to “toast” this piece of cinematic history. Find out more here
Last Chance Dining: While we’re sure the last thing you’ll be thinking about after Thanksgiving weekend is more food, but in light of the announcement that the head chef from North 53, Ben Staley, is resigning to open his own restaurant, we are rushing to grab reservations at North 53 before his last day end of October. Book your table here
Party in Disguise: Celebrate Halloween lavishly this year with the AGA’s decadent Moulin Rouge inspired event. This year’s Nocturne party features an over the top Parisian dress-code where nothing is too bold. Have a daring night out, but also feel great about giving back at this fundraising gala. Please sure to buy tickets early as this event will sell out! Find out more here
Be Brave: For the first time ever, Fort Edmonton Spooktacular will be offering an Adult Only Night, guaranteed to be even more terrifying and gruesome than years prior.
