The LUX To-Do List: December

December has our social calendars stretched between office parties, family get togethers and a plethora of once-a-year local events to keep you warm inside and out all month. So grab an eggnog latte and enjoy our December To-Do list. We couldn't be more excited to bring on the cheer, unlimited cookies and celebrate the most magical time of year! 
 



That Parliamentary Glow: It just never feels quite like Christmas until the Legislature has been lit up. Bundle up and watch the lights turn on Dec. 3 while sipping hot cocoa and listening to Christmas carols. Find out more here

Get Outta Town: Hit the road and head to Ponoka on December 8th to see the CPR Holiday Train go by. Watch a live musical performance and light show as this trains makes its way across the country. Find out more here.  

A Historic Goodbye:
The Royal Alberta Museum is going to be temporarily closed as it gets ready to move into its new downtown home. And while we're excited to see the new award-winning space, we're all for a great goodbye party. The 48 hr weekend long farewell includes swing dancing, cartoons, a mid-night market and more. For You & Your Kin: Looking for fun no matter the age? Check out the Valley Zoo's Festival of Light, or visit Fort Edmontons Christmas Reflections from Dec. 11- 30th for a historic take on the holidays. Both events are hands-on and promise to show you a new side of some of Edmonton's favourite attractions.   

DIY Christmas Tree:
Brave the winter winds and cut down your own tree this year. There are a number of local tree farms that let you pick, and cut down your own tree. They'll even provide the tools and a place to warm up! Find out more about a local tree-farm here

The Cosmos & Cocktails: Taking a cue from other late-night museum bashes, the Telus World of Science is hosting 'Dark Matters' a late night adult science night with adult science experiments, board games, a live DJ and access to all the exhibits. Find out more here

An 'In the Know' Christmas Pageant:
Best described as 'a Christmas concert put on by your slightly drunk disorganized friends', come take in the pageantry of some of the best comedians, musicians and dancers Edmonton has to offer at Sweety Pie Records Family Fun-Fest. Find out all the details here

Grab the Popcorn:
Metro Cinema has everyones favourite Christmas movies playing all month. Drag your kids, relatives or partner to take in a classic holiday film. With everything from Gremlins to Home Alone playing throughout the month you'll have lots to choose from for a cozy stress-free outing. See the full listing here
