Holiday Party Style Guide

Posted by Marielle T on

It's been a busy week for us at the shop between the launch of our Holiday stock, hashtag (#thisismyLUXmas) and the flurry of activity that accompanies those exciting seasonal changes. Even our blog gets busier for Christmas, as we'll be posting twice a week (Tuesday and Thursdays) between now and the holidays. We will be continuing to blog about our favourite Holiday traditions, styles, recipes as well as post our annual curated gift guides, and we can't wait to share the most magical time of year with you.

Holiday party season is also finally here and with it comes the classic closet struggle, leaving us staring blankly at a jammed packed closet and thinking "I simply have nothing to wear". But before you start tearing through your closet, take a breath and relax. We have you covered.

There are three main holiday functions we all find ourselves attending every year: the office party, a family gathering with your in-laws & relatives and your BFF's all girls New Year's night out. For each function you'll need to follow a few keys style tips to ensure that you not only look fabulous but are truly dressed for the occasion.

Meeting The Parents

When meeting your perspective in-laws, long distance relatives or any sort of family function you'll want to balance style and personality with class. Don't make the mistake of wearing neutrals and covering up every inch of skin to make a good (albeit demure) first impression. Let your personal style shine through and wear a bold and bright color. Not only will you pop in family photos but it also allows you to wear more neutral makeup to balance the bright outfit. Choose an eye-catching necklace and you're set to make a memorable first (or first time in a long time) impression.

Girls Night Out

One of the best advantages to going home for the holidays is the chance to reconnect with your oldest friends from the farthest corners of the world, most likely during an anything goes ladies night. For this party look select an outfit that is a stunning as it is comfortable (aka a jumpsuit). Since you'll be dancing into the night and at some point standing in the winter winds for a cab, a full length jumpsuit is made for these nights without ever looking frumpy or overdressed. Pair it with a waist-cinching belt and a touch of fur for an on-trend knock-out look.
